Cruz Built is a locally owned and operated general contracting company serving the Piedmont Triad. We specialize in custom new home construction, remodels, and additions — with a process that’s as intentional as the homes we build.

Founded by Sam Cruz to honor his father’s legacy, Cruz Built is grounded in the same values he grew up watching: hard work, integrity, attention to detail, and pride in doing things the right way. That legacy shows up in everything we do — from the big-picture vision down to the smallest trim detail.

At Cruz Built, we don’t just build houses — we build with heart. Every home is a collaboration and a work of art, crafted to reflect the people who live there. Our Team

SAM CRUZ

Born in Miami and raised in Charlotte, Sam grew up spending summers working alongside his dad in construction—though his dad tried to steer him away from it. After exploring other career paths in college, Sam eventually embraced his true calling as a custom builder.

With over a decade of experience, Sam has worked his way up from apprentice to leading major projects, from new builds to complex renovations. He’s passionate about building science, cutting-edge materials, and finding creative solutions to challenges on site.

FOUNDER

  • Outside of work, Sam’s proudest role is being husband to his high school sweetheart and “Dada” to two energetic boys. When he finds time, you’ll catch him fly fishing or hanging with friends.

Meghan Hadley

DIRECTOR OF SALES AND BUSINESS OPERATIONS

Born and raised in Greensboro, Meghan spent nearly 20 years in Raleigh before moving her family “back home” in 2021. She joined Cruz Built two years ago and now helps manage the “behind-the-scenes” production that keeps projects running smoothly.

Meghan is with clients every step of the way—from the first phone call all the way through to the final walk-through—ensuring they feel supported and informed. She also focuses on marketing, advertising, and refining company processes, always aiming to create clarity and organization so clients and the team can focus on what they do best.

  • Outside of work, Meghan and her husband stay busy with their three little girls. When she finds a free moment, she enjoys tackling home renovation projects (to her husband’s dismay) and teaching her daughters the value of doing it yourself.

Cole Austin

As a Project Manager at Cruz Built, I oversee the seamless execution of construction projects, collaborating closely with subcontractors, homeowners, and suppliers to coordinate schedules, procure materials, and provide consistent updates throughout each project’s lifecycle.

I take pride in guiding clients through the construction process, ensuring it’s as smooth and enjoyable as possible while transforming their vision from blueprints into reality. The most rewarding aspect of my role is witnessing a project evolve into a client’s dream space.

PROJECT MANAGER

  • Outside of work, Cole is passionate about the outdoors and painting, with fly fishing being his favorite pastime. Blending these passions is his favorite way to relax and recharge.
